Trying to find the value of my bmx bike, please help
Hey guys,
I no longer have anyone to ride with as I have graduated from college and all of my bmx friends and I are going our separate ways.
I need to get money so I can make the downpayment on my condo. Therefore, I must sell everything that I can survive without for at least a year.
So, my bike is a totally upgraded 2005 Fit Team. The only thing left from the original bike is the frame and the headset. Everything else has been upgraded. Here is the lowdown:
Frame: 2005 Fit Bike Co. Team
Headset: Cane Creek
Fork: Odyssey Classic Dirt
Bars: Odyssey Garry Young
Stem: Odyssey Elementary V2
Grips: Shadow Conspiracy Ol’ Dirty
Barends: Kink Light
Bottom bracket: GT (came with the cranks)
Seatpost Clamp: Shadow Conspiracy Alfred Lite
Seatpost: Fit Aluminum
Seat: Shadow Conspiracy Penumbra Crow
Cranks: GT 3-pc (identical to Profile’s 3-pc cranks)
Sprocket: Fit Ultralight
Chain: Imdustry 1/8
Brakes: Fly Brakes U-Brake
Cable: Odyssey Linear
Brake Lever: Primo J
Front Tire: Fly Bikes Ruben
Front Wheel: Sun City Light Rim 36H + Odyssey Vandero Race
Rear Tire: Primo V-Monster
Rear Wheel: Sun Chinook Rim 48H + Odyssey Hazard + Odyssey 1-PC
Pedals: Odyssey (sealed)
Approximate weight: 27lb
The bike has been in use for about a year. It has a few nicks here and there from regular urban usage, but no dents or anything like that. The breaks work great. The bike was also never left in rain.
Here is a picture of it:
There are more detailed pictures here.
So how much is this bike worth? Should I even bother selling it?
Thanks!

That's a really good bike. You should get quite a bit of money off that.
And where did you get those cranks?

What are we talking about here, 500 .. 700 ... 900 bucks?
The GT cranks I bought from my buddy who got it from some off beat yahoo! shop a year or two ago. They work great!

One thing I notice is that bikes never seem to sell for anywhere near their "value" regardless of condition (the exception being vintage bikes). I feel I'd be lucky to get $300 for mine (FBM PW Moto w/ top parts, prob cost around $1000 to re-build). There's always a big difference between what it's worth, and what someone will pay. You'd probably get more $$$ parting it out.

A race bike is still BMX. Bicycle Motocross...Motocross is racing. Well it started as racing.

I'd say probably $350-400 complete. Maybe $450 on a real good day. You might do better parting it out.

If those cranks are 175mm, holler at me in a PM.
I'd say the bike is worth upwards of $500
