Many bike questions

I have read the rules and won't make it as obvious as 'wut grips r gewd' or anything like that. All of these are questions that I actually are interested in. First of all this will be my first real BMX bike, I had a crappy one a few years ago and really enjoyed riding it. I plan on using it to just ride around town for fun / exercise and I really like the ride of a BMX over any other kind, which I have already tried. I am willing to spend roughly 500 and change on a bike. I don't want something that I'm going to bust, I am fairly large so need something sturdy. I did look at some of the past threads saw a lot of mention of DK six pack and what not.

After looking over some of this forum / looking around online most of my questions are prolly very easily answered in other posts but I still find that I gotta ask here so I don't have to spend days here trying to get answers for fairly easy questions. Aside from the obvious DK six pack which other bikes are good for just rockin around town, weight doesn't matter much since I won't be using it for anything more then just riding, and some little stuff. I always like to do research on whatever I buy because its just how I am. I noticed all the stores around my place don't sell BMX bikes anymore, One dude says most everything is online purchases and If i wanted to actually see any BMX bikes around my area I would have to drive a good 45minutes because of the area I live in. I drove around didn't see much of anything I liked so I decided to turn to online buying, but because I'm not actually able to get my hands on the bike itself I want all the info on this stuff that I can.

If I do plan on going out looking at bikes what are some things to look for, just for info sake I'm roughly 6 foot, and like 220+ish Was wondering because of all that what do I need to look for, if anything for frame, tire, and such. I know nothing about bikes and was hoping I could get a major crash course before I made my mind up about anything. So since their isn't much around me that sells them looks like I have to buy it online, Think just buying a bike is best or buying parts? If parts I'm assuming I gotta put it together myself, if that is right think a bike store could do it all for me.

Sorry for the major wall-o-text but I know nothing about bikes at all but want to learn about them before I make any sort of choice, Yes this is a very long version of 'wut bike iz gewd' but in my case I want to know which bike is best for me and why. Once again sorry if my post is 'noob' or w/e :/

Added: Also since I am forced to order online, which are the best/cheapest/most trusted sites to buy from. Thanks again everyone :P

After reading your inquiry for a bike, I would say to go with a Kink Roc. The bike is $460, which is within your $500 range, and you can even get a code for 13-15% off- bringing your price down even lower. The bike is excellent. It has a full cromoly frame, fork, and bars and has all the sealed parts that you want. It even has a cassette back wheel, which is what you want. This bike has a toptube that is just a little bit larger than the Six Pack and should suit you and hold up to whatever you will do. Some other sites that are good for BMX are www.albes.com www.staff-bmx.com and www.empirebmx.com
I hope that was of assistance to you.

I know i say this alot, but my '97 Robinson SST GT is ****ing sweet as all hell. You can get it well within your 500 dollar range on craigslist or ebay. (there are alot of robinson brands, get the SST GT) I can out perform any new bikes out there (haro, redline) and i just started biking seriously. With your extra cash you can buy some custom parts or some extra parts (get a few sets of rims and an load of intertubes, an airpresser checker thingamajig and a tire pump, some sprockets, and a few sets of cranks, and the tools to fix the damn thing. especially the rims, i've gone through a few sets because i sucked at bunnyhopping over curbs) You'll still have some cash to blow so get yourself a pair of decent sunglasses, because while your riding you'll get annoying particles of dust and or your eyes will dry out from the wind.

This is all i have to say.

im sorry to tell you but i have a robinson also and ive inspected the frame. there is no way that frame will take as much abuse as a kink rock. the frame has no supports so the frame could break.

These people aren't worthy enough of even having that name mentioned in their threads.

Nothing new has happened to BMX in the last 10 years? What's the newest bike you own?
