Steerer tube

I have noticed that on most manufacturers don't mention the diameter of the steerer tube......if it's not mentioned does it mean it is a 1inch one?

Usually 1-1/8 but if youre looking at cruddy stuff you might find in wal-mart or something its probably 1".
