Best Cruiser out there.

I'm looking for a top-of-the-line 24" cruiser. Suggestions?

I would suggest giving more information about your size and what you're going to use it for.

don't mean to cut in; but i have the same ? just getting back into bikes after 20 yrs.

6' 200lbs. i'm looking for an alaround type ( unless 24s aren't good for park) my lbs carries haro, mirraco, gt, db,redline. i would think he could order whatever thou.the only one he had in store was a gt, not sure of model, looked to be an older one, he's asking $220. i have looked at many bikes online but i would like some input from some 24 riders. my main reason for considering a 24 is for trail, i think it would be more confortable at my size. feel free to correct me. thanks all

minichamp- those both look like nice bikes, but thier both aluminum framed race bikes. will they hold up to trails/dirt jumps with a 200lb rider? from what i've been reading i should be looking for a cromoly frame? thanks

got one more? would a 20" be more manuverable than a 24" iv'e noticed there are 20" bikes with 21" tt, same as most cruisers. would i be right in thinking the geo would be the same then? ok that was 2 ?s sorry. bottom line is i'm looking for a good solid bike to ride trails comfortably, keep in mind i'm 6' 200lbs, and still be able to throw it around on some dirt jumps. thanks again.

DK General Lee 24 is cromoly and can be had for under 300. May not be a bad starting point.

Well, you didn't say what you wanted it for so I suggested what I knew off the top of my head. And no, they probably wouldn't be too good for trails if you are just learning.

And yeah, just find a 20" with a long toptube, and you should be fine. Just have fun out there on whatever you get.

sorry for not stating intended use upfront, thanks for the input.

just got off the phone with the guy at the lbs. asked him about the bump, says he has it but that i'm too old (35) to be riding bmx, says i wont be happy on anything other than a 26" with gears. says hes conserned for my knees, i'll agree i should consider my knees but come on, i think hes trying to get me into something that pays him a little more. i for one don't like the look or the hassel of multi gears, just more to go wrong and leave me walking out on the trail. guess i'll be looking els where. thanks all

The guy at your LBS is a moron. You're never too old for a BMX. It's a BIKE! How does a BMX frame automatically count out anyone above a certain age? What is he even talking about? Why does he think he knows what will make you happy? I hope you will never purchase anything from that shop again, and I hope you let him know why.

Yeah, he is probably trying to get you to spend more money. Yeah, he is probably a greedy piece of trash. But he is also a close-minded fool. That is far worse.

Sorry, I needed my rant for the day.

well after checking out a few 20"s i'll have to sadly admit i'm a little more cramped than i would like, so for the first time in my life i'm jellous of the shorter rider, cause those 20"s look that good. so i'm back to the 24". and these are the 2 i've narrowed it down to.

dk general lee, mirraco icon 20forty; both have cromo frame, fork, crank, bars. both pretty much the same till you get the rims(mirraco wins here with the double walls) then theres the price(dk wins here by 100us). so sense id probly spend the extra on the dk upgrading the rims anyways ive decided to go straight for the 20forty. thanks again for help and input.

How long where the top tubes on the 20''s you looked at? There may be some larger 20'' BMXs that will fit you. Or was the seat height/overall bike height the problem?

live4muzic2- i think your trying to tell me something; but i'm not getting it. whats duece duece? a bike? sorry, please explain so i wont be in the dark. cause it's dark in here. thanks

hair- the tt was fine, wasnt crackin any kneecaps, so i guess its the over all hieght thing, just felt scrunched, raising the seat didn't help cause then i was hunched over the bars too much. i just felt like an ape on it. wish it wasn't the case but id rather be honest with myself now and get something i'll actualy ride instead of just look at wishing i could ride. besides the icon 20forty looks to have all the qualities i'm after in a size that will fit me.

I'm obviously not live4muzic, but the Duece Duece is a frame made by Macneil. It has a 22" toptube which is huge for a 20" frame.
