Can you wear dirt bike helmet to tracks??

I am gonna go to a track about 30 minutes from my house and I have a dirt bike helmet because I ride, but is it okay to wear that, or will it be to heavy or anything compared to a bmx one?

Lots of people wear dirt bike helmets in BMX racing.
Dirt bike helmets are generally heavier than bike helmets and tend to have less venting so it may not be as comfortable as a mountain bike style full face but it is unlikely to cause you any problem.
