any older (30+) riders out there?

At the age of 36, I'm probably older than most of you young 'uns out here. I used to ride a bmx back in the mid to late 80s mostly doing or trying to do freestyle and racing. Next came geared and singlespeed mountain biking and then fixed gear bikes. Now that my boys are getting into bmx, I'm getting back into it too.

My question to you guys are there any older guys like me around? I find I'm having to relearn how to ride a bmx. The next few months will be fun!

I'm 31 and recently re-joined the 20" ranks for the first time in a loooong time. My wife and neighbors look at me a little funny for riding a 'kids' bike, but that's the price we pay. Enjoy the QT with your kids.

I'm in the same boat. I started right around when you did and within the last couple years, got back into it. Closing in on 40 and riding a Strowler.

age: 32.
present and accounted for.
my 20" 1987 diamondback hotstreak is my primary mode of transportation in philadelphia.
i prefer it to walking, even for brief distances.
and soon it will have 3 speeds!

edit: of course for me it doesn't look "weird" since i'm 4'11"
... the vintage nature of the bike turns heads anyway.

No questions.

But I did crash the other day. I was riding at lunchtime and just practicing bunnyhops and little jumps off of curbs etc. I took thisone curb jump a little of kilter and ended up landing on my left side of my face. So now I'vew got road rash on my cheek, some cuts on my hand and a good chunk of skin out of my shin. Plus my right shoulder hurts like a *****. I was more worried about what my wife would say than theactual pain of the injury. Getting old sucks.
