bike buying

i am looking for a light bmx bike. I ride street and sometimes go to the skatepark. I don't care how much as long as its light like 19-20 pounds or 20 to 25 pounds. just not heavy. can some show me some bikes.

fuzzbox 07-09-09 12:39 PM

If you are looking for a bike that light go to ask people in the road forum.

haha carbon fiber FTW

minichamp31 07-09-09 08:34 PM

You need a budget to start off with.

K_phomma 07-10-09 01:41 AM

How does 15 pounds feel? Only problem is that it either comes in a 650c or 700c wheel size

fuzzbox 07-10-09 03:48 AM

Perfect for street and meets your bike weight limit.

in a strange way, that video was actually kinda cool

twiant 07-16-09 03:37 PM

Haha yea ino, I dont realy like them tho.

bhkyte 07-16-09 04:04 PM

There are plenty of race BMX bikes in that weight region. Add some fat tires?? I had BMX bikes that weight and had no problems with light freestyle.

fuzzbox 07-16-09 05:24 PM

Using a race bike for freestyle is a stupid waste of money. Plus they aren't designed to do the same things.

Street rider 07-16-09 06:13 PM

they cant take the stress of street/park/trails riding. well maybe trails if you weigh like 100 lbs or less

minichamp31 07-16-09 07:46 PM

I would trust my race bike on the trails. I only weigh 130 pounds though. I know my street/park/dirt bike is so much better now. I fixed the back wheel and it's silent.

Street rider 07-17-09 09:07 AM

what was the problem with it?

minichamp31 07-17-09 10:52 AM

There was so much play side-to-side in the back wheel it sounded like it was going to fall off.

Street rider 07-17-09 11:35 AM

haha i have the same problem right now. it just keep tightening the cones, but they keep coming loose for some reason. oh well. im gettin a new hub sometime soon anyway.

bhkyte 07-17-09 02:17 PM

Occasionally the bearing holders in the hub go egg shaped rather than round due to wear. If your hub has light and loose spots as its spins thats sometimes the problem, rather than the bearings. If so time to get a new hub.

minichamp31 07-17-09 09:13 PM

I have to do the same thing StreetRider.

But my wheel doesn't have tight and loose spots, it just loosens on occasion for an unknown reason.

As soon as I get enough money, I will have a new wheel.

Hey guys,

I would just like to ask for advice on what's a good bike for mountain trails?

I would like to try this sports and I am not sure on which bike to buy.

I have an ordinary bike that I use or exercise purposes.

Thanks guys.

i got tight and loose spots in my chain but i just got the back wheel and the chain and the sprocket are brand new... could it be because im running a 23/8? i put everything on as it came stock...

Ryan k. 07-26-09 10:12 PM

what do you mean by tight and loose spots? cause 23/8 shouldnt really affect it.

eight pack 07-26-09 10:23 PM

like at 1 point as i back pedal it its really tight then at another piont it has a little slack in it.....

Ryan k. 07-26-09 10:40 PM

hmm, idk thats never happend to me, is your chain tight, no chain slap or anything?

minichamp31 07-26-09 11:40 PM

Is your chain line straight? Do you have a tight link?
