it's because they have an intern gyro device. it allows for larger bearings, so they are stronger.
I would never run one of those frames unless they paid me.

The Dia-Tech internal detangler is what goes inside that stem. It is a totally cool, but stupid idea.
1. Gyros/Orygs work great as detanglers the idea of coming out with a better one is good if you don't do something stupid.
2. The Diatech system doesn't work better or often as well as a Gyro.
3. The headset is non-standard so you if you do have a problem with it, you are screwed.
4. If you don't want to run a Gyro, you are still stuck with that stupid big ass headset.
5. If you break a brake cable, it is a total pain to replace it - and my understanding is that brake cables snap a lot easier with that setup.
6. If you want to switch to a normal Gyro - forget it, they don't fit!
Just a good idea, that simply was not needed because of the drawbacks to it. If they offerred the SAME frame and bike designs without the System Diatech detangler, their bike sales would definitely increase.

There's nothing positive about the System Dia-Tech internal gyro, at all:
It's difficult to work on (if I remember correctly, you have to remove the forks to works on it).
It only uses a single cable, which gives it the flop problem that pre-gyro detanglers had, making the brakes work like crap when the bars are rotated.
It doesn't use a normal headset.
It looks disgusting.

khe has pretty much done away with that. only their entry level flatland bike still uses it. it was a miss on my book too.
'F-set' is some company that idk how much they actually have to do with khe. i think khe just uses their products and doesnt actually 'make them' idk though it might be a profile madera thing.
either way, i think they have more than redeemed themselves with such things like the geisha, astern, hure, affix bb and a 18lb bmx bike

Agreed.
Although I applaude KHE for "pushing the envelope" (if that's what you want to call it), an 18lb. BMX bike, ridden the way a BMX bike is supposed to be ridden, is just as good to be made out of foil, pipe cleaners and paper mache'.
Take that 18lb. bike with that lame-ass bar/stem combo and try hitting an 8-set of stairs to flat. I sure as hell wouldn't trust it
I'd rather have a heavier bike that can withstand abuse than a light one that will crumple bunnyhopping a curb.

I weigh 185 and I ride the KHE bike. The brakes work fine, the bike is strong as sh**. I dropped a 9 stair to flat and nothing happened. Their welds are solid and they have gussets to reinforce their frames. They are flawless.
