maxy cross

I have a set of cranks that say maxy cross on one side and custom on the other and I've never even heard of it. Can someone tell me what they are?

I believe they are made by Sugino. I had some Maxy or Super Maxy cranks on a 1983 Nishiki road bike. I can't say how old yours may be though.
