Rims painting

If i paint my rim chrome will it have as good stopping as a real chrome rim?

No, chroming is a plating process. Also, I don't think a chromed (steel) rim is of much use anyway, the stuff is super slippery.
Don't you guys use Alu alloy rims? (been years since I bmx'd). And above that rims with ceramics that require different pads are very good for stopping.

Really - as said above. There is no such thing as chrome paint. There is fake crap that is silvery - but usually it isn't even really shiny when it is applied.

The thing about chrome is that it is real CHROME. It isn't paint, it is a metal that is applied through a chemical/electrical charge system to your rims and is permanently attached. Paint will simply rub off, getting gunk in your brake pads and likely ruining them.

Chrome rims are available for about 30 bucks each and are a much better way to spend your time and money.

Could I get somehting chrome plated reasonably inexpensively, a frame for instance? Where would I go abou t doing that?

I found this.. dont use this for your rim, but its pretty cool.. its an actually extremely reflective chrome paint. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/chr...mefx_price.htm
But dont paint your rim, the paint will just come off when you apply your brakes... bad idea.

I really don't know about pricing for chrome plating. But, check out a motorcycle shop or custom car shop. You know, the places that do 'custom' work.

Motorcycle shops are good because they do a lot of custom chroming and custom powdercoat paint jobs.

Powdercoating your bike is the ONLY way it should be painted! Powdercoating makes regular paint seem like grease splashed on the frame for how quick spray paint comes off.

Anyway, motorcycle shops can really hook you up, if you go in and explain your situation and what you want to do. Just talk to them and see if you can drop off a part (completely ready for chroming OR painting!) and have them send it out with their next order.
