Look what I found! Hutch Pro Racer

Found this recently in my parent's garage. I'm the original owner - I'm guessing from around 1980 or 1981. I mowed lawns all summer because my dad told me he'd match whatever I raised in cash to buy a BMX bike. I raced in many areas of the NE but mostly in Eastern PA and CT/NY. Actually got invited to join the top local shop team in my area but a blown out knee pretty much ended my career.
Not sure what I'm going to do with this. Was going to fix it up but I just don't have the time or money. I love this bike though. So many memories. Not sure why these pictures are so crappy, but you get the idea...

I've considered it. I would love to restore it. Finding the time and money isn't easy - these "old school" BMX parts have gotten incredibly expensive. If I had only saved all of those Haro number plates I had! We'll see. I need to clean it up at the very least. Wouldn't mind my son having it some day, but it probably won't be cool then.. haha.

Restoration would be awesome. And eventually, that thing will appreciate in value and your son will be extremely grateful hahaha

Its tough. I'm a little over $20,000 a year. I'll be paying loans until the day I die, man.

Cool bike, cool story. If money is tight, it would be an easy sell. Though, given the sentimental value, it would also be a tough sell.
Sign up here.. www.bmxmuseum.com but be warned, you will get sucked into it.

Really all it needs is a little bit of elbow grease (check the restoration section on the site above) a crank arm, and those bars to come back a few notches.
As it sits right now is an easy $600 or so. Again, monetary value probably can't match sentimental value though.

That's been the hard part. I really don't have the time/energy/money to fix it up but honestly the thought of selling it is physically painful. Weird how we can get so attached to inanimate objects, but some of the greatest moments of my youth were on that thing - on the track and off.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Or maybe I shouldnt... haha.
