primo 8t driver?
im getting tired of this crap. everyting is getting too small. aits made out of chromoly so it wont break your chain and you need a 23t sprocket to run it. thats gonna be weird if it actually comes out.
I thought it already came out, but maybe I'm thinking of something else. But i'm with you on all of that small crap. The smallest gear combo should be 39-14.

30-11 is the lowest anyone should go
i run a 25-9. i dont know if its a real grind, but i can have my rear right peg on and my front left peg on without my sprocket touching the rail
i heard that 10 is the smallest anyone should go, with so many horror stories about 9's why would anyone want a 9 tooth driver, let alone a 8
ive never had a problem with my 9t
Why would anyone in their right mind run such low tooth combos? I just bought a dk cleveland it had a 36 tooth from sprocket, I had to chang it cause it was dreadful, running such low ratios ruins the top end of the bike(top end as in top speed).
Top end doesn't matter much for street and park riding; acceleration is what matters. Also, having a smaller front gear is better for some grinds (ex: crooked grinds, pedal feebles).
FireTeamCharlie what is the ratio you are running? I have a 46 to 13 and I havent topped it out yet and god knows I tried.
45 and 14, Its a pretty high ratio, but i'd rather top out higher.

ok so basicly everyone is a know it all!..8 tooth drivers.plus sides are....smaller driver means it tucks lower and is less likly to get hit if you grind on driver side...slitly less chain and sprocket means less rotational weight........and for you ounce saving kids it is lighter....negatives are that it does put more stress on the chain and sprocket so hopefully u use one made of 7075 and not 6061....and if you are using it for street riding purpose than your not shooting out of the starting gate so the stress levels shouldnt be as bad....take a few peadles to get up to speed for your rail or what have you..second is its good for all thes new lil kids that weigh 60 lbs and shred more than you cus they dont put as much stress as you 23 yeard old 200 lbs jackass! thank you!

how do u figure you know more than me??? u dont know me at all...i put one post shedding some light on the 8 tooth stuff and you know who i am all of a sudden???pease tell me somthing about the gearstuff i dont know??

You've said everyone is a know-it-all. I didn't say I know you, nor did I expressly say that I know more than you. I stated that many of us know a great deal more than you. Take, for instance, the quote below.

so three teeth of sprocket+ one tooth of driver+half link only wieghs out to a grams???thats funny...but not true...anyways im not saying its better than 25-9 as far as stress levels cus obviusly it would have slitly more....and it isnt a big inovation that would help too many kids out ther cus it isnt as reliable as running biger driver, sprocket and more chain........i myself as a street rider use the 8-22 setup only cus it tucks closer under my peg and out of the way of smashing on leges and coping...
I know why the push for smaller sprockets came along, but I agree that 8 tooth is simply to small for the chain to survive for long and may be more of a headache than it is worth.
But, perhaps not, which is why it is being tested. WEIGHT has very little to do with why sprockets are shrinking, otherwise, the bmx racing world would have done it a long time ago for all the riders. For street, they are (finally) following the flatlanders into realizing that a little more room on the bottom of your bike is a good thing. Even more so for street as coming down a little bit sideways on a smaller sprocket gives it less leverage to bend and break. This was the main reason why things started getting smaller in street for the first time... to many bent and broken sprockets. The added benefits are the slight weight reduction and clearance when coming over the coping or other obstacles. I've been running 33/12 since about 1990 or so. |

Beerman, someone's already posted a thread complaining about me, and how I let people know when I think their grammar sucks. Oh well. This guy makes a perfect case for my argument that too many of these kids are only semi-literate.
I know uneducated illegal immigrants with a better handle on the English language than some of these kids.
thats a good one. and oh so true.
Primo makes kick ass cassettes.
holy ****...23-8.....wow. i gots a 39-14... |
