Redline Quadmoly - Good or Bad?

Can't find anything about it anywhere. Anyone know anything about it? They used it on their BMX and cruiser frames. Thanks!

A Google search for 'quadmoly" turns up nothing but references to Redline bikes, which basically says that it's probably some crap-quality hi-tensile steel that they're using and calling something else to make it sound better than it actually is.

It's not going to be anything in comparison to 4130 chromoly, 45 carbon-manganese steel, True Temper, Super Therm, OX Platinum, or 831 Reynolds, that's for sure.

The bike itself got excellent reviews. I can't see Redline making anything crappy.

That really doesn't help, but I'll tell you what I was going to say: most of the people reviewing those bikes are going to be people who aren't too knowledgable in biking, BMX specifically.

I went to school with one of the Kastan kids - the bad one. My brother worked for Redline. I had a Carrera and 600A before anyone else. Possibly one of the first of each. Is there a statute on theft? I don't want to incriminate anyone. I'm kinda leaning towards their bike for sentimental reasons. I just can't believe there's nothing written anywhere on the frame material.

So what you're saying is that you want to buy one of the new, crappy Redlines because the quality Redline that you had when you were a kid was stolen by the son of Linn Kastan?

No, Linn owned Redline back then. One of his sons was involved in a drive by shooting around 1990. Nice family except for one rotten kid. The bikes aren't crappy, I just can't find any info on the frame material. I'm having a hard time finding a cruiser at a decent price here in Australia. Norco's already sold out.

Trust me, the newer Redlines are pretty crappy. Hopefully that'll be changing, since they're finally going to give the riders a little more control over product design now.

Not sure how bad their racing bikes have gotten, but their freestyle frames are a complete joke compared to other companies.

If it doesn't say chromoly and make direct comparisons to chromoly, then it is NOT as good as a 4130 chromoly frame and should never be paid any premium amount for.
