I prefer the Euro over the American. For all the apparent problems with it, I've had none; I constantly bash my bottom bracket shell, and have done so for nearly a year thus far, and I have yet to replace the bearings in my BB.

Euro: Almost nobody has broken one so it has no worse of a failure rate than American bottom brackets, and it cuts about half a pound off the weight of your bike due to MUCH less metal being used in the bottom bracket shell on your frame.

Euro bearings are **** compared to normal ones, but they might be strong enough for you, if you're running a primo spindle avoid euros, the bearings are stupidly small and frequently break. Profile ones are ok for the most part, just make sure you use your spacer.

Personally I'd avoid a euro, go for an American or the new mid size. BBs are getting larger generally in cycling as people want larger hollow spindles and bigger bearings. It's only BMXers who are stupid enough to want an inferior BB.
