Oh nice! Now that Blixa is back with 'em (did he ever really leave?), I've heard that they're going to be releasing new albums and going on extended tours.

I hope they come within 200 miles of Cincinnati...

MC5 Back in the USA

Catch the film MC5 A True Testimonial if it plays near you. Well done w/ lots of live footage and great modern interviews and commentary by Wayne Kramer.

Blixa was saying this might be their last north american tour - i guess they're losing money on tours in the states.

God..Please someone help me to get a tune out of my craw.
The other day, my wife was preparing dinner. The TV flipped to the kids' show
HR Puffenstuff...I was too sleepy to turn off the station and the remote was elsewhere...It keeps coming to mind while riding and once in awhile the words gets expressed while on the road...
Maybe I need a visit to the service that took care of everyone's mental hang ups in the movie- "Spotless Mind."

You might also check out Gram Parsons two solo albums, Grevious Angel and I forget the second one's name, but you can get them both on one CD. Beautiful stuff.

Already got that.

I'm a huge GP fan. Have you ever heard Rank and File? It was a country-punk band formed out of the ashes of The Dils, and included the extraordinary talent of Alejandro Escovedo. Rhino finally reissued the first two albums on one disc, but it sells for $25!!! Amazing music though, and worth every penny.

I've got the original vinyl and saw them live in Austin in the 80's. Alejandro's brother Javier was in one incarnation of the band too, I think - there were several lineups. Alejandro Escovedo is one of my all-time favorite songwriters and performers. Ya got good taste, dude!!

Calexico's one of my favorite modern bands!

Today I've been listening to the last Joe Strummer album, "Streetcore". Great stuff, too bad he had to go.

Him going could make you wanna hate a God or gods if he/they exist.

The best version of Diamond Sea, in my opinion anyway, is on the Diamond Sea/My Arena single. It's about 26 minutes long, if I remember correctly. Quite possibly my favorite Sonic Youth track.

Tonight I'm on a bit of an Afghan Whigs kick. This cover of "How Soon Is Now?" is trippy...
