Omg Slapshot, saw them a few times. My buddy used to bring a hockey mask to the shows.

You might wanna follow that up with some Earth Crisis or Integerity next time --or get the full straight-edge thing goin' with some Youth of Today.

I have a bunch of SE stuff from that era, including a Crucial Youth 12" (in case I ever forget to brush my teeth). Also have three Slapshot LPs on vinyl.

Crucial Youth is one of the funiest bands ever. Up there with Good Clean Fun and Project X. But I think I'm one of the few people who owns the Project X 7" for the music and not the rarity/joke/etc.

Now, if we want to talk about the true Gods of Straight Edge Hardcore, Gorilla Biscuits and Turning Point are where it's at.

So far today:

Frail - New Harmony 7"
Mineral - Self-Titled 7" (Feburary/M.D.)
The Promise Ring - Falsetto Keeps Time 7"
The 101 - Green Street 12"
Pink Floyd - Animals 12"
Yaphet Kotto - The Killer was in Government Blankets 12"

I think I have a repress of Project X (Cappo/Porcell pre-YOT), if I'm thinking of the right band.

Yeah, I still have a Gorilla Biscuits longsleeve in my closet. I used to like all those Revelation bands, Burn, Judge, Inside Out, Sick of it All, etc etc, even Supertouch and of course IceBurn (I think they had something on Revelation before signing to Victory). Used to like a lot of the bands on New Age Records, Victory, and Doghouse (Endpoint anyone?).

Yeah - seen 'em too (Slapshot) as well as Integrity - hell, the played in our basement. I lived with Tony Brummel for a while back in 89/90. I drew the Victory Bulldog too. Sang b/u vocals on a Life Cycle single, had a house band (Fist Fight) that palyed 2 shows when other bands didn't show. I left in 90 to tour with Shelter for a few months. Fun times...

Wilco: A Ghost is Born

Saw Tweedy play solo acoustic on Friday. Nice homey Chicago atmosphere at the show. That was my sixth time seeing him perform, and he keeps getting better.

I don't think Project X was pre-Youth of Today; I'm pretty sure they were around after YOT broke up. I think the reason the band was so hyped for the small amount of time they were around was because they had members of Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today, so it would make sense that PX came around after both of those bands. But I can't really be too sure; I was never into Youth of Today and don't know much about them.

I'm not really too much into the whole Straight Edge Hardcore thing...just a couple handfuls of bands. Lots of Revelation stuff is great, though. I mostly dig a lot of the type of stuff that came out of the whole Revolution Summer deal in the mid-80s DC scene, as far as Hardcore goes. Also, lots of Crust.

I'm not at all in the mood for this album, but I'm listening to it anyway

The Best of Huey Lewis & The News- Reminds me of that age when I was first all googly-eyed about girls, but way too dumb, shy, young and into comic books (not necessarily in that order,) to do anything about it.

Ah... sarcasm. Irony, even, given your last post of Mr. Lewis and the News. How about trying a new rhetorical device?
