Coincidentally I'd been on a Soundgarden binge the past couple of weeks. Chris Cornell was one of the great rock vocalists, with more range than most and a skilled orator's gift for interpretation. And Soundgarden explored more odd meters and shifting rhythms than most rock bands. Offhand only a few others come to mind in that regard, notably The Pretenders first album and System of a Down.

I'm not sure I believe in premonitions but it's a bit eerie that the one song in particular I'd played at least once a day was Blow Up the Outside World, with these intro lyrics:

Quote:
"Nothing seems to kill me no matter how hard I try"

Wierdly enough I'd been listening to a lot of Soundgarden the week before he died too. My son had been too and we'd talked about the band a couple times that week.

Right now I'm listening to Wood Brothers latest "The Muse". Chris Wood may be known by some as the wood in Medeski Martin & Wood. A good band also.

Lately it's been a lot of Rise Against and Regina Spektor. A strange combination, I know.
