The cover of Mr Grieves (PIXIES!!!! SCORE!) sounds liks they got a bit of the Waits about them. Stunning...like a bee sting on the eye after hitting a lamp post on your bike.

The music from "Jesus Christ, Superstar". It was so good I bought the movie. Which doesn't even come close to the soundtrack (sung by a different set of people). What a bitter disappointment (the movie, but not the soundtrack).
Scorpions - Love At First Sting - 9 - Still Loving You
There have been a number of recordings of Superstar, including a movie soundtrack. The movie was silly and overdone. The original broadway cast recording was definitive.Originally Posted by koffee brown

My favorite recording of Jesus Christ Superstar was called "A Resurrection" and features the Indigo Girls in the roles of Mary Magdelene and Jesus. It's disconcerting at first, but somehow works.
Right now I'm listening to "Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration" which uses the texts from the Messiah but sets them to Gospel, Spiritual, R & B, and even Hip Hop arrangements. It's pretty cool.
