I am not going to try listening to the sounds of my mind and the cards as they drive by in the rain down on the street.

No way to actually listen to music tonight, so I'm just remembering the whole of the first Blind Melon album in my head.

TV on the Radio - Young Liars e.p.
The cover of Mr Grieves (PIXIES!!!! SCORE!) sounds liks they got a bit of the Waits about them. Stunning...like a bee sting on the eye after hitting a lamp post on your bike.

Progress ~ Ultraspank

I'm always disappointed at how few people are aware of this album.

The music from "Jesus Christ, Superstar". It was so good I bought the movie. Which doesn't even come close to the soundtrack (sung by a different set of people). What a bitter disappointment (the movie, but not the soundtrack).

There have been a number of recordings of Superstar, including a movie soundtrack. The movie was silly and overdone. The original broadway cast recording was definitive.

There was a version that played on PBS a couple of years ago, that I rather liked. The character of Judas was played as a punk in a leather jacket. Jesus was unfortunately blonde.

My favorite recording of Jesus Christ Superstar was called "A Resurrection" and features the Indigo Girls in the roles of Mary Magdelene and Jesus. It's disconcerting at first, but somehow works.

Right now I'm listening to "Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration" which uses the texts from the Messiah but sets them to Gospel, Spiritual, R & B, and even Hip Hop arrangements. It's pretty cool.
