The Mechanic (3/10) no real point or purpose that I could see. Nothing accomplished, nothing learned, just a waste of time. Bad guy does something bad, kills the boss that made him do it, does something else bad, walks away without making up for either thing.

No Strings Attached (7.5/10) decently funny rom com watched with the wife.

This is a great thread... I may have watch 2-3 movies in as many years and need to catch up a little.

Just built a new media / entertainment computer... had a bunch of spare parts and my old desktop computer so put all these together.

What, do you think every movie should end with bunnies and flowers? ;) :p

nah, just didn't think the person who survived was the one who deserved to. didn't feel that he/she had earned our sympathy, like we were supposed to root for him/her but there wasn't a good reason why. that's all.

Just watched The Mechanic too, it was pretty bad. Although I just wanted to see Jason Statham naked... :)

The Stone of Destiny. I'd give it maybe an 8/10. Just a sweet little drama.

The Hangover, 8/10

Super 8, I had very little idea what this was about - didn't read the reviews - and was pleasantly surprised 7/10

ooga-booga 06-21-11 01:56 AM

star wars ii: attack of the clones - 7.5

FXjohn 06-21-11 11:12 AM

The Fighter - 9/10 excellent movie.

DMF 06-22-11 05:26 PM

Inception. I didn't see all of it, but it looked pretty interesting - especially when appreciated as a story construct. Like Memento - sometimes you just have to go "wow, this is a cool story".

7, I guess.

caloso 06-22-11 05:29 PM

Kung Fu Panda 2. 7.5/10. It actually had a story I cared about. It's no Toy Story 3, but it's not too shabby.

Inception doesn't matter unless you see it all the way through to the end.

The Green Lantern 5/10

I don't care for the Care Bears. I also hate Strawberry Shortcake. (When you have 7 year old twins, you develop pretty strong opinions on kid movies. Most are terrible but a few, like the aforementioned KF2, are pretty good.)

Chick flics and thick flics.

You're all being manipulated.

ooga-booga 06-30-11 11:06 AM

the maltese falcon-a 9

the right stuff-8.5/9

and

scarface-9.5.

ooga-booga 06-30-11 11:15 AM

just bought the twin box sets of the espn 30 for 30 series. i've heard great things about them but haven't seen any of the documentaries. anyone familiar with them?

Caretaker 06-30-11 12:05 PM

Night Moves
Saw it on TV.

Reminded me of Chinatown.

Unbelievable storieline.

Subplot, with Gene Hackman character dealing with marital/generational problems made it worth watching.

8/10
