Rango, 6/10. I went in with high hopes and found it relatively cute, but ultimately disappointing. Don't know if this was due to distractions (baby, laundry, not getting any sleep the night before and needing a nap, making dinner, etc.) meaning it took 6 hours to watch it or what. Might have liked it a bit better if they'd gone a bit more into the environmentalist themes.
Punctuation is important. It's the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse" and "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse"

Limitless. Meh. They've got Cooper narrating whenever there isn't dialogue, which feels a little insulting to the audience. It's as if the director doesn't trust his viewers to understand what the actors are trying to convey with images alone, that we need nuance and innuendo explained with words. Get rid of the narration and it's a great movie.

Tonight we saw a British Comedy.. "The Trip." Loved it.. Non stop dead pan humor laced with sarcasm. My kind of movie.

sucker punch...hmm, don't know how to rate it. visually, it was very interesting, though it felt odd like they were wasting a lot of money making a live action anime movie when they could have made the same movie in actual anime for less than 1/10 the cost. as far as the story goes, it felt a lot like the later 2 matrix movies when they tried to insert a deep philosophical subtext into a movie that hadn't earned it but seemed to act as it had.

guess 5/10 because it was really pretty neat to look at.

Trollhunter. I would give it a solid 9 out of 10. Gorgeous Norwegian scenery, outstanding plot (disgruntled civil servant blows the whistle on wildlife management agency conspiracy). Understated (unstated) humor. You name it. Dock it a point for subpar special effects, but really the Norwegian countryside that no CGI could approach more than compensates.

Days of Living Wild and not just because Maggie Cheung is so painfully and unearthly hot. The cinematography, the plot, the casting and performances from every actor -- outstanding. 10!

Funny People: 6/10. Sandler's character is an *******, Rogen's character is a schmuck, and the movie fails to make you care about either of them. The standup bits are funny, though.

Fatal Rescue - My housemate was watching it this morning and I was entranced by how horribly bad this movie was.

All the characters were total a holes and idiots save for the kid who fell in the well... he was just so annoying that you wished that he would drown so he would stop talking.

And why did American parents have a child that spoke with a thick German accent ?

Can we give things a negative rating ?

Saw Rise of the Planet of The Apes a few weeks ago with my new brother in law... we gave it 4 thumbs up.

Most impressed with the non verbal scenes and Andy Serkis' performance as Ceasar and interaction with the other non human actors as well as that of John Lithgow.

Dinner For Schmucks. 5.5. Not a great movie, but Steve Carrel and Zack Galifinakis save it from being terrible.

Saw "The Debt" last night. Great pacing and styling without being over stylized, fit the mood of the film perfect. Story was okay but didn't seem to hold together completely. 7.5

Nobody mentioned "Tree of Life"? Okay I'll mention it. a 10

Rewatched Master and Commander recently. What a great film. The acting is superb, the sets are as real as it gets, and the directing is outstanding. Its unfortunate that Patrick O'Brian, the writer of the series of books on which the film is based, didn't live to see his work come to life on the big screen. I'm sure he would've been pleased. I have to give this one a 10/10. Even the soundtrack is amazing. So good, in fact, that I bought the CD of it, and listen to it often. And I never buy soundtracks...
