This Is 40. 7.5/10

Some really funny scenes, and a lot of it hits pretty close to home for me and my wife. Plus, Paul Ruud rides a bike in it.

I like the part when Lincoln met with the congressman and explained how the isosceles triangle is like equality among men.

Argo. 8.5. Would be a 9 but for the overhyped drama at the airport.

ooga-booga 01-12-13 03:35 PM

Was it that good? I want to see it.

We watched End of Watch - 9/10 I liked it so much, I watched it twice.

I watched The Paperboy - 4-10 bizarro movie with a decent cast...john cusack, nicole kidman, zac efron, matthew mcconahey (sp)

Trouble with the Curve - 8/10-not bad at all, I teared up a few times.

Wag the Dog 8 - 10 Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman are just fabulous in this very funny film. Just finishing an election year, it's nice to have a good laugh about this nasty, vile business.

Life of Pi in 3D. 8/10, but I was about a sheet-and-a-half to the wind, because I saw it in one of those luxury theaters where they bring booze at ruinous prices straight to your seat. Also because I enjoyed the book.

bigbossman 01-23-13 05:06 PM

Gangster Squad - 6/10.

I wasn't expecting too much, and wasn't disappointed. Fairly pedestrian gangster vs Good Guys format, competent but unremarkable acting performances all around, predictable good guy fatalities. Dragged a bit after a while, so a little too long to maintain any kind of snappy pace.

Also - I didn't really care about any of the characters, so I wasn't really engaged in the film and found myself checking my watch a couple of times before the predictable and ho-hum ending.

Redtails - great flick really. Comcast gave it 1 star, when did they get in the business of rating what they purvey? It was wicked melodramatic but pitched perfectly for my 11 yr old (the gooshy scenes were just short enough to keep him from leaving the room) and I really couldn't ask for anything more, so I give it a 5/5. And the Me-262s were pretty darn scary.

caloso 01-27-13 09:18 PM

Zero Dark Thirty. Good, but not great. I've seen 3 of the Best Picture nominees and this one just isn't at the same level of Lincoln and Argo.
