I loved it. Did the book justice as well as it could.

last three (last night):

red tails- lame.
the rookie (eastwood/sheen, 1990)- c'mon, clint, you could have done a lot better on the directing and fired up the script and story line. lame. the gauntlet gets an A+++, though. whoa.
money train- lame.

i rather enjoyed sonia braga in that movie. i thought she was plenty of fire for both the script & story line...

Red 2. 6/10 just okay imo

Last movie (well, really a documentary) was Black Fish.

Made me re-examine many of my previously held ideas and concepts.

I give it a 9 out of 10.

Saw American Hustle last night. Very good. Amy Adams was, well, wow.... 8.5/10

colorider 12-28-13 09:51 AM

Saw the Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug last night. Much better than the first one - 7.5/10. Still not up to LOTR levels but good nonetheless.

finally got to see Catching Fire. it was definitely really good. an excellent follow up to the first hunger games, especially with the larger budget. and was a good adaptation of the book - and this book was my favorite of the 3.

9/10.

spdntrxi 12-29-13 08:27 PM

Walking with Dinosaurs… 2/10. narration is horrid.

12 Years a Slave 9.5/10

A true story and a real horror show. Southern white males might not give it such a high rating as I did.

ChloeP 01-07-14 10:35 AM

The Bourne Supremacy 7/10...I prefer the first movie, for me it was the best.

Agreed. I saw this last night and imo the whole cast was, well, wow. Great storytelling.

Has anyone seen Spring Breakers? Reviews of that have been completely polarized so I would expect the same on here, but still interested to hear what people think. I am hesitating to try to find it because of how dark it looks, but I think it just might be worthwhile.

hadn't seen a movie in the theater since django unchained in feb 2013. and since the newness/holiday crush is over, did a
twinbill of the hobbit: the desolation of smaug and american hustle. enjoyed the 2nd installment of the hobbit vs the first one
(just like lotr's) a little more and give it a 9. american hustle was interesting but was expecting just a little more. i thought
the acting elevated the movie more than the actual storyline. bradley cooper bugged me but that's nothing new. i give it
an 8/8.5.

ooga-booga 01-11-14 04:49 AM

watched the good, the bad and the ugly for the first time in a while. still a 9. can't help but think that all the scenes involving civil war soldiers
could have been cut or reimagined. feel the plot is good enough without the historical fluff and added time (making the movie 3 hours!).

it was a big movie day because i also tackled another 3 hour epic-la dolce vita. so many iconic scenes. anita ekberg arriving at the airport.
anita in the trevi fountain. the expedition to the haunted/deserted castle. the near-orgy at the end. fave tho is the intro with one helicopter
carring the giant jesus figure (the shadow of jesus rising up against the backdrop of the building is genius just like the growing shadow in the third man)
and the other helicopter trailing behind that diverts to buzz a rooftop pool full of bathing beauties. the sacred and the profane. ahhh. a 10.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

What a turd. First bad sign was Will Ferrell & Adam McKay being producers. Went downhill from there.

Best part was that we borrowed DVD from library, which means I only wasted my time.

Wilfred Laurier 01-18-14 05:45 PM

rush

8.5/10

one of the better opie cunningham movies
imho

Saw All is Lost yesterday. Redford is superb and despite the lack of dialogue (probably less than 100 words spoken), I was revited. As a cyclist I can relate to the isolation of sailing alone. 8.5/10

colorider 01-20-14 12:01 PM

Saw Oblivion the other night. It was allright 7/10
