The Three Burials of Melquiaides Estrada - 8/10 very good. Interesting in that it was Tommy Lee Jones directorial debut - thought he might have done something before.

Godzilla. It was fun! Not smart, but that's to be expected. Much more a classic Godzilla movie than the 1999 version, but with modern effects.

    Dear Mr. Watterson (documentary)

If you like Calvin & Hobbes like I do, you'll like this...basically a tribute. But with some interesting comments from other notable cartoonists like Berkeley Breathed. It's on netflix.

Because of a thread on another board I watched:

    God's not Dead

Thank God I didn't spend any money to watch it.

2/10 and I only give it that because if Alan Rickman played the Evil lead he might have been able to save it.

In a theater? "Trainspotting" -- 7 (although it started-off in the crapper).

On commercial TV? None of 'em -- they're all "edited for size, content, and to fit the allotted time". Rubbish!

The Amazing Spiderman: 5/10--Lousy story line, can't relate to Spidey's overwrought teen angst.

Godzilla: 5/10--Worst acting since Raymond Burr played US newspaperman Steve Martin in the original movie.

X-Men Days of Future Past: 7/10--Fairly strong story line and good acting. Some plot holes, but mostly very entertaining.
    My current stable:

1989 SLX Bottecchia (Campy Athena 11s)
    1999 Cannondale F400 mountain bike
2012 Bianchi Infinito (Campy Record 11s)
2012 Colnago C59 in PR99 color scheme (Campy Record 11s)

trailer park boys live in fuc*in dublin
    4/10

i dont know about the movies
but the reason the tv show was so good
was that it was done by filming a lage amount of
    largely improvised dialogue
    and then edited together

live in *uckin dublin is scripted
and reminds me a lot of the satirical family variety show they did on the simpsons

except for the puppet show at the start
    that was ok

Monuments Men, 5 out of 10. Oceans 11 meets Dirty Dozen.

Too much phoney baloney, incorrect timelines, and fake schmaltzy scenes (false romantic interest and clever cute patter from George Clooney) added, reducing a great true story to Hollywood fluff. Read the book, it is much much better.

we just watched 21 Jump Street as well because we saw the trailer for the next movie. It was pretty fun. I'd give it a good 7/10 for what it was.
we also watched This Is The End the other weekend, and it was fabulous.

Graceland: The 1987 Paul Simon -African Concert in Zimbabwe. 10/10 Visually and Musically. I found my misplaced VHS copy and played it tonight; hadn't seen it in at least 12 years. Great stuff, highest recommendation.

Go see "Boyhood". I saw it Saturday night and give it a solid 9/10. And that's probably a lower rating than any other critic has given it yet.

You're right - TLJ directed "The Good Old Boys", a made-for-cable movie for TNT. Among many notables in the cast and crew it was Matt Damon's first big role. It was also based on a novel I found in a used book store in Glendale, CA. But that's a story for another day...

Get on Up, James Brown bio pic. Musical scenes 10 of 10, just like the 1967 show I saw in the Philadelphia Arena, only now it it was even bigger than life. Don't remember that many women dancing on the stage, but then I could hardly take my eyes off James Brown's moves.

Childhood background story was rather dull and trite, the interplay between band members and the Dan Aykroyd manager character was interesting. The flaming airplane sequence, especially the flak anti aircraft bursts was laughably fabricated BS. Overall an 8.
