Spinning right now, Hank Williams Jr - Hank Live.

This is a 1986 pressing of Hank's 1986 tour and another $1 flea market find. Side 1 is nice - side 2 is really nice.

Continuing the country theme, Waylon Jennings ‎– Ol' Waylon is on the turn table right now. Nice mellow country music, on a clean 1977 RCA pressing. Willie Nelson helps out, too.

Back to the blues.

Spinning right now a clean 1972 MCA pressing of B.B. King - Guess Who. Yet another $1 flea market find from last week. Competent, straight-ahead B.B. King, but a comparatively pedestrian effort nevertheless.

I was listening to the latest 2 albums of Placebo - Battle for the Sun (2009) and the song Ashtray Heart in particularly and of course Loud Like Love that was released just in September. The song Loud Like Love is something incredible, it's great to hear new music by Placebo after 4 years.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West. IMO one of the best albums of last 10 years.

I have in the back of my mind that records are only to be stored upright, not lying flat. Can anybody support that with some reasons?

They are more likely to warp when lying flat. That is the reason historically given.

- ECM Yes, indeed. In fact the label has continued to make selected vinyl pressings available.

-IMO as an old audiophile it makes a difference over the long term.

My nighttime rotation has been:

Cat Power - Dear Sir

Hope Sandoval - Bavarian Fruit Bread

John Coltrane - Giant Steps and In Europe

Joni Mitchell - Shadows and Light

Slowdive - Souvlaki

Beach House - Devotion and Teen Dream. Not really getting into Depression Cherry.
