Can't happen..... listen to the lyrics - he burned it all.

So I lit a fire, isn't it good, Norwegian wood...."

They're a good band and historically significant and all........ but I'm thinking a tad overrated. :innocent:

I have never - repeat, "never" - heard you include you includer the words "a tad" in that thought before.

And you're still wrong about them being overrated. :deadhorse2:

bigbossman 09-21-12 10:55 AM

Right now, The Rolling Stones - Tattoo You

Little T&A is the gem here. ;)

And, I agree with you so completely it shakes me to my very core.

:)

Just finished listening to Sgt Pepper's. Nice melodies and pleasant enough ditties.... but I stick by my assessment.

One of my latest $1 swap meet finds spinning right now....

Good Stuff - I love listening to Albert King

bigbossman 09-21-12 06:07 PM

Just finished: Dire Straights - Love Over Gold
Excellent pressing, very detailed sound

Spinning right now: B.B. King - The Electric B.B. King
Straight-ahead King, baby. :)

How does one "shuffle" albums? I'd like to see that turntable......

metabike 09-22-12 08:49 PM

Alice by Tom Waits.

bigbossman 09-22-12 11:19 PM

Just one today, Elvis Costello - Punch The Clock

Bought it at the swap meet for $1 because it was so shiny and minty. Wasn't impressed with it; The pressing is really poor. I've found that to be the case with most albums pressed in the 80's...... they changed something during that time, and most of the LP's from that era sound flat to me.

bigbossman 09-23-12 12:54 PM

Just Finished, Delbert McClinton - The Jealous Kind

Right now, Ry Cooder - Into the Purple Valley

highly underrated as it is sandwiched between two superior albums-making movies & brothers in arms. 'private investigations,' 'telegraph road' & the title track are all great.

buncha gems here as the last great stones album. 'slave' + all of side two-'worried about you,' 'heaven,' 'waiting on a friend,' 'no use in crying' & 'tops.'

bigbossman 09-24-12 10:53 AM

Today, so far....

Chet, Floyd, & Boots Chet Atkins, Floyd Cramer, and Boots Randolf - the very definition of the "Nashville Sound"

Tom Petty - Southern Accents Not a huge Petty fan, but it only cost a buck and I've never heard it. So far, it's pretty good.

Dire Straights is one of my favorite bands, and I have all of their stuff.

Yup - side 2 is da bomb. This one only cost me a buck, too. :)

i've owned elvis' punch the clock on album, cassette and cd. all versions seem like they're 'missing' a production layer. a little tinny and flat.
don't go out and get another one cuz i think it's full of fail.

his next one after that, goodbye cruel world, had only slightly better production. contrasting those with the two elvis albums (imperial bedroom 1982 & king of america 1986) bookends
makes the blah production that much more noticeable. i had forgotten about it till you mentioned it tho...

bigbossman 09-24-12 07:28 PM

^^^ Thanks for the heads-up. I know a few folks that like his stuff, so if I come across any more for a buck they go into the trade pile. :)

Spinning right now, B.B. King - L.A. Midnight A really nice sounding 1972 ABC pressing.

bigbossman 09-25-12 03:24 PM

Stuck on B.B. King for the moment....

bigbossman 09-26-12 04:39 PM

Ralph McTell You Well Meaning Brought Me Here
The Kinks The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society

bigbossman 09-28-12 03:53 PM

Just finished, Rolling Stones - Some Girls

Up next, SRV - Texas Flood. The guitar work on this is so good..... I wish I could have seen him live.

Just got back from the swap meet with some more $1 scores. Among them, Albert King I'll Play The Blues For You and John Lee Hooker I'm John Lee Hooker (Vee-Jay label, from 1959) Can't wait to get those two cleaned....... :)

Also picked up some Aerosmith, Leon Redbone, Bobby Bland, Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top, and a few others I can't remember. Mostly trade bait, but I might keep the Aerosmith Live and Leon Redbone, depending on how they sound.
