What ALBUM are you listening to now?

That's right.... album, LP, vinyl. Not MP3, not iTunes, not CD..... not anything but a good old fashion LP spinning on a turntable.

I'll start with the last three I just spun today, while working in my office:

Long John Baldry - Everything Stops For Tea
    Roy Buchannan - Livestock
Dwight Yoakam - Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room

Anyone else listening to music regularly, the old fashioned way?

That reminds me I really need to pick up my turntable from the repair shop; they called that it's done like a month ago...

last night. I don't think it's available on anything but vinyl.

Well..... this thread went nowhere. I guess I'm just clinging bitterly to my old albums, and not wanting to participate in the 21st century.

Just finished listening to Ry Cooder Paradise and Lunch. Sure sounded good.......

    Friday Night in San Francisco
by John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola and Paco De Lucia

Found it at 1/2 price books for $1.99 in what looks like
unplayed condition. The album cover is bent at one corner otherwise it's perfect.

Okay, not now since I'm at work, listened yesterday.

Albums are a part of our past, sometimes the best part.
For me it was sitting down for the first listen, and READING the liner notes.
Now mine come out on special occasions, usual with some nice single malt scotch.
Cling away dude, it's our right...
( Ry is a nice choice. Prompted me to pull out King Crimson's Court of the Crimson King album. )

I did get my turntable back from the shop, but haven't hooked it up to anything yet (amp upstairs or computer downstairs). I got new cables though for when I do make the connection.

Who you ask? a quirky singer/songwriter who probably isn't know

Saw him open up for Gordon Lightfoot in 74 or 75 at Princeton University.

Looks like it's just me and you, Marty.

Hardly a day goes by that I don't spin at least one LP. Today was Steely Dan's Royal Scam, Albert Collins Ice Pickin', and Elvin Bishop Let It Flow.

    Borrow? Buy some, maybe.......

Just went a different way today - Some Gene Krupa and Arti Shaw's Moonglow, that I fished out of the bins at Rasputin. Those boys can bring it, old school. And those Columbia "six eye" LP's are the cat's meow, what with being mastered on tube equipment and all.

These albums are from 1955, and still bring down the house. They sound so lovely.

Technically not listening at the moment but I was listening to Norah Jones' The Fall last night. I swear that woman could sing the yellow pages and make it sound sexy.

Space Hymn but its so overplayed and in crappy condition
that I gave it a pass and played Departure from the Northern Wastelands
by Michael Hoenig. and Threshold of a Dream Moody Blues.
