In DVD/Blu-ray format by mail it is. I don't stream Netflix since it is mostly recent stuff of no interest to me or my wife. My wife and I have been watching film noir and other great B&W movies from the 30's and 40's for the past year since I retired. Often the commentaries are interesting too. I get a one day turn around by mail except on Sundays and holidays.

Between Netflix and my local library's collection of DVD's I've been catching up on the few TV series of interest I have not seen in the past 18 years without premium cable. The past few weeks I borrowed from the library the first three seasons of Justified and the seventh season of Dexter. Last month we borrowed all of Deadwood and the first two seasons of Hell on Wheels. Viewed a lot of British crime series from Netflix; Prime Suspect starring Helen Mirren was a particularly good series.

What is the deal with getting new seasons on streaming? Lillyhammer, Walking Dead, Downton Abbey, The Killing, Paranormal Witness. At this rate how long would it take to get the new New Girl if i couldn't record it? 2015?

I saw Season 3 of DA at Target for sale, but still not even Season 2 on NF.

Huh................ I've been streaming a ton of old B&W movies off Netflix. And a lot of them I've never seen before, which I find pretty amazing cuz that most all I've ever watched since forever.

Maybe I don't know how to find them but I looked on the Netflix homepage for "Classical" movies available to stream and didn't see any older than from the 60's and zero B&W titles; no Hitchcock, no Bogart, no Gable, no Stanwyck, no Cagney, no Bette Davis, no screwball comedy, no film noir, no Billy Wilder, no nuthin'.

No thanks to Netflix streaming for me.

Under the "watch instantly" dropdown, select "classic" ......... "Classical" won't do you any good.

Tons and tons of old movies that can stream, and there is a "subgenres" tab as well. There is something listed for everything you're looking for.

Watched "Deep Water" for the second time last night.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10008507-deep_water/

It's a hauntingly beautiful documentary about Donald Crowhurst, the first Times Golden Globe Race around the world, and the disastrous, cascading consequences of one bad decision.

Streaming - Headhunters (Norwegian) is a good one to start off with.

It's about a corporate headhunter that augments his income by heisting artwork. He makes the mistake of choosing the wrong fellow, and the movie really takes off. Solid performances, lots of action, and a few intriguing twists and turns.
I loved this movie. Extra point for Norge!

Happy People: A Year in the Tagia is a fantastic documentary on trapping in Northern Russia. Co-directed and narrated by Werner Herzog, it's one of his best since that Crazy Grizzly Guy doc.

Then, if you can ignore how miscast Tom Cruise was for the part, see Herzog play a deliciously evil bad guy in Jack Reacher. It's worth it just for Werner, imo.

Midsomer Murders. British crime drama.
Endeavour/Inspector Morse/Inspector Lewis. British crime drama again, and I put them all together because they are intertwined. The Endeavour ones are the best in my opinion, which are young inspector Morse, Inspector Lewis is his sidekick in the Inspector Morse series and then gets spun off by itself.
