Hi all
Day off in Hannibal Missouri Camp ground is ok I caught a ride into town on the trolley it costs 3 dollars round trip and was supposed to drop me off down town and then take the rest of the tourists on a tourist trap guided tour of the area the driver forgot to drop me and I had no clue where town started or ended so she was into her dialog and bad jokes and all of a sudden she remembered she forgot me long story shortened I got the tour (I could have done with out it) free finally got dropped off in town and went to see my new friend Susie to use her computer again to pay bills and type to the forums.

I forgot to tell you about the ride from Dyersville to Muskettine I got on a bike path rails to trails deal crushed lime stone. Was supposed to save 7 miles so I got on it . In retrospect Id have been better on the road. I knew I should get off at farley and figured there would be a sign or something. It was like 5 miles or so I was enjoying the cooler temps and low humidity for a change and forgot all about checking my odometer. I passed a place that kept anhydrous (sp?) ammonia in tanks used on the farms for the corn crop anyway as I rolled past some tanks must leak because the smell of ammonia almost knocked me off the bike. I kept riding…

In a while I decided to see how far I had ridden and was shocked when my odometer said 9.5 miles DANG! I missed the turn off but there was no sign and no buildings or anything. I figured it must be by the tank farm so I headed back.

Sure enough I got off at the tanks and found farley so what’s a few extra miles anyway? I cant remember what happened the rest of the day but I do remember it went well after that.

Ok so last night I was treated to something new and I just got to tell you about it Sweet Potato fries yea that s right, French fries made from sweet potatoes instead of regular spuds. The waitress talked me into trying them and since I like sweet potatoes anyway I figured might as well.. They were great new taste treat. Opens up a whole another world in eating. Wished I had come up with that idea myself.

Ok this rest day is in prep for what comes at me tomorrow 35 miles to the next town and it is all roller coaster hills people tell me its almost straight up (yea right) 8-81/2 % grade up and down over and over again. I am not scared just want to get it on and get past it from there I don’t know what the road Is like other than it is hill country in central Missouri. And eventually get into the Ozarks which will be more challenging

The weather is supposed to get back to being hot and humid this next week is going to all be tuff maybe longer but Kansas should be fairly flat .

I am going to teach myself to sew today got to buy a needle and thread and make some repairs to a pannier and the bag that holds my little whisper lite stove since I know nothing about sewing I am not sure where to even look for sewing equipment Ill have to ask someone.

The bike is running ok the drive train is dirty and once in a while skips a cog because of it I am going to clean the drive line today and oil the chain and make some adjustments and be ready to roll tomorrow will check back in when I can until then be safe and keep enjoying what you enjoy doing. I am thinking about you and happy you thought about me and read this stuff.

Hey Catfish,
You need a needle and some thread and maybe a sissors. Try a fabric store. Someplace like KMart or Walmart or Target. Some grocery stores will have it with the claening kind of stuff. It's not hard. Hang in there. Your adventure is wonderful. Keep writting.
