NMSS Waves to Wine Ride 2009
Bike MS: Waves to Wine Ride 2009– Quick Facts
DATE: September 12 & 13th, 2009
START: 6:30am
FUNDRAISING: Minimum donation of $350 although the average rider raises $890.
LOCATION: San Francisco to Healdsburg – The start location is at UCSF Mission Bay; day one ends in Rohnert Park with the overnight at Sonoma Mountain Village, and day two ends in Healdsburg at Lake Sonoma.
EXTRAS: This is a fully supported ride (SAG vehicles and rest stops) with three meals each day and rest stops every 12-15 miles.
RIDERS: 2000 riders from around the Bay Area. 65 % of our riders are between the ages of 35-55 male. 73% of our riders have a college education or higher. We attract riders from the Bay area, other countries and even had riders travel from Europe to come to the Bike MS: Waves to Wine Ride.
WHY: Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable and often disabling disease of the Central Nervous System. Symptoms of MS can range from tingling in the hands or legs to blindness or paralysis. There is no known cause for MS and there is no cure.
The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals, moving together to create a world free of MS. Through a network of chapters across the United States the National MS Society helps each person address the challenges of living with MS. In addition to research, the National MS Society provides more services to people with MS, offers more professional education and furthers more advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world.
