It's actually pretty sweet. It's a real bike chain around it, so it feels heavy and substantial.

I'll be riding the St. Louis TDC. Actually, it's in Grafton, IL but it's the closest to me. I'm really excited. I've never rode over 50 miles in a day and I'm doing the 101.5 mile ride. I'm going to ride it on my 2011 Trek XO1 cyclocross bike. I'm planning on throwing some road slicks on it beforehand to make my life a little easier.

I rode the NYC one last year. They've changed the course up this year and it looks like we go straight up Riverside, across the GWB, and then up the Palisades. I doubt the roads will be closed off - they weren't last year.

Just signed up for the Silicon Valley TdC for June 12 75K. Thought about doing the 120K, but that goes over the Santa Cruz Mts...twice - not quite in that good of shape yet

I have a question- on the site it says 200 Minimum needs raised.. but then it says 35.00 day of registration? Has anyone just walked up and registered and rode? or do they make you pay 235.00 really?

BmoreDrew - The raising of the money is for a good cause. They will not let you ride with the marshaled group if you don't bother to fund-raise.

no the medals are not standard. every ride has a different commity and does diferent things to congadulate you. the medal is sweet! I am going to send this picture to our rep. i think its a great idea.
EDIT: just talked to our rep for Tour de Cure. He said this was the first year for these. That if you hit a specific dollar goal they were an award. He hasnt been able to order any yet.

I rode my third (annual) on May 22nd: Red Rider since March '09, I have lost 35 lbs riding. Some days I am a Clyde; somedays not. I rode the Hamilton Mass TdC with my family: including Wife, Son, Brother in Law, Nephew (I gave him my old Bianchi) and 5 other friends as the Diabetes Derailleurs: Team members rode the metric 50 and 100. We had the same medals shown above, but they were awarded to anyone who raised $1000 or more. Best year of the three for me with a new course, better roads; terrific food, and band after the event. Post event there was Bike porn in the tents with displays from Parlee and Serotta. the Weather was a little cool, but no rain; and for me a terrific family reunion. I ride a '97 Zurich, and actually got a couple of compliments.. I am now officially "Old-School" I guess.

I'm doing my third TdC next week in North Haven CT as a Red Rider. I did the 50k last year and am doing that again this year, the hills around here are still too much for me to try the 100k. I am originally from NJ and considered doing the Princeton or North Jersey event, but too many crazy drivers there, just joking Looking at the route map of the metric century for the Princeton event, it looks like a nice relaxing route, not any big hills, so I might try that one next year.
