    Pelotonia 2013

I finally decided to ride Pelotonia. My wife's having cancer helped me make that decision, but I realize that anything raised this year will not affect research for several more, but it did make me aware.

    Here's my profile.

Who else here is riding it in 2013?

i did it last year, the 100 mile route via reynolds rd. I don't know if i'll do it again this year. honestly, its a huge commitment, and can cost you quite a bit if you dont reach your fundraising goals. despite having a few raffles for a few hundred dollars in prizes, i was still barely able to crack $1k. luckily my previous job's peloton split up the funds and i was covered. i think part of the problem with fundraising is that it's gotten so big, where a few years ago lets say 10 people who would donate might know 1 person riding in it they would donate to, now they might know 3 people, and that money that may have all went to you before now gets split up.

this year, im at a new job, i've pitched the idea to them to get a team together, but i still haven't gotten a response.

my other option if i do decide to do it is i've got word on a peloton i can join and they match dollar for dollar, which would be easier, but still, its a $900 commitment and getting to $1k was quite tough.

i was glad i did it last year, it was pretty surreal, but we'll see this year.

Just found your post. I'll be there for my third year doing the Reynolds Rd. 100 again.
I agree that the money is a huge commitment but it's defiantly worth it.
I believe it stopped being about the OP a while ago.
