Germany, Poland and the Baltic Republics in solidarity with DR Congo.
I'm planning a trip to go from Germany to Estonia in about 4 weeks in May. I will be trying to raise money for three organisations in the Democratic Republic of Congo to support **** survivors and street children. Any help, ideas, advice and even people that want to join are very welcome.
I have never done this before and I am planning everything as I go. At the moment I'm trying to set up a website or a facebook page to give more information. As soon as I have it I will post it here if that is fine. I'm also new to this.
Hi fgosch, Thanks for the offer. I am unsure about what is the best way for people to donate money, whether is paypal or what. Then everything relating to training I am unsure about how to go about it. I was planning to do 40km a day. I ride my bike everyday but I'm not superfit for a long ride. So any ideas about that would be great. And finally, how to best take the luggage. I have been looking at trolleys and they are hugely expensive. I have a saddlebag but it's not big enough for a tent and cooking material, plus some clothes. So any ideas about that would be great. Thanks again! marta
I read that you're planning to visit Estonia this year and I got some ideas. I live here, in Tartu (a university city) and have friends who organize all kind of alternative and (social) awareness events and are very open for international co-operation. We have a library that, at the moment, is in the process of moving from a youth center to a squat. You can read about it, and find contact info, here: http://www.araamat.org/index.php?kee...eht=about%20us. In Tallinn there is a social center Ülase 12: http://www.ylase12.org/index.php/in-english As for raising funds, two ideas pop up: a seminar/lecture/film night with a donation box, and in every town you can find a (punk) band or two who are willing to do a charity concert.
