Has anyone ridden this in the past? I'm near the ride and wanted to see what the experience was like.

Hello,
I'm one of the organizers, but I can say the following:
Nice roads, runs through a state park (crowders mtn), and national military park (kings mtn), in addition to some nice rolling hills (see strava). Center Street Tavern is providing pre-ride coffee, and post ride chili bar. I'm springing for the keg (free beer!). We've got T-Shirts, skull caps, and water bottles in the swag bags for the first 75 entrants (so register soon). The route is marked, and many of those registered are frequent riders (i.e. you can find a pace from 25mph all the way down). Police escort out of cramerton, with roads closed, etc.

The only "bump" might be if it is horrible weather (but that is no different than any ride in Jan). Our rest stops have 2 tents with heaters, so it may not be that bad!

Let me know if you have any specific questions, otherwise, sign up via our website:

Proceeds benefit Holy Angels of belmont NC.

Thanks!

...great ride this year with 150 riders in 28f weather. Next year we'll have more bathrooms, better heated rest stops and lots of additions! Thanks to all that came out!
Next year the ride will be held on Saturday Jan 3rd 2015 (so mark your calendars!)
Thanks!
