Crossing Canada to Cure Diabetes

Lanze Langill is was born in British Columbia on Feb. 1, 1976. Lanze started cycling early in his life. When he was 13, he and his step father travelled from Prince George to Prince Rupert BC. a 700 km ride through BC's coastal mountains. This ride took them 7 days to complete.

Lanze is no stranger to bike travel, but as an internet programmer, and father of two, he hadn't found time to ride in a long time. In the summer of 2005, Lanze was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. He is now insulin dependent, giving four injections a day, and takes Metphormin, a drug that helps his muscles use the insulin in his system. Being over weight does not help his Diabetes.

In the spring of 2013, Lanze started riding his bike again. He was feeling better then he had felt in a long time, and his pants were getting bigger. That is when it hit him, a way to give back to the Diabetic community. Why not ride for Diabetes?

After doing some research, Lanze found out that the Diabetes Association of Canada has a team, Team Canada, that does fundraisers through sporting events, but they do not cycle. Well here was an opportunity to do something awesome. Lanze made up his mind that he would ride his bike from Victoria BC, to Saint John's NFL. (7700km) to raise awareness and fund for Diabetes.

Lanze is looking for support in this adventure. Every penny counts, or you can come along for the ride.
