Twilight Wish Foundation/El Tour de Tucson
Hey there, everyone. My wife and I are taking the plunge and riding in our first El Tour de Tucson. The event as a whole is in support of Special Olympics, but we are riding for the Twilight Wish Foundation.
TWF helps grant wishes for seniors, much as the Make a Wish Foundation does for children. One of their primary campaigns right now -- and the one we're riding to support -- helps send WWII veterans to Washington, DC, on a three-day trip to visit the WWII Memorial. This is something many of "The Greatest Generation" can't afford to do on their own, and these Honor Flights allow them to do it.
Every contribution, large or small, is appreciated. We have a modest fundraising goal of $500, and we fully expect to exceed it by the time we mount our trusty steeds on November 22. So if this is cause is something you'd like to support, go ahead and visit our fundraising page here.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your support! We're pretty excited about doing this.
...and yes, I'll be riding vintage steel.

We've almost met our goal of $500. I think we're off by $15 with almost three weeks to go. NICE.
Just wanted to take a second and say thanks, on the off-chance some of our anonymous contributors might be from here.
And all that's left is to ride this sucker!

Well, we smashed the heck out of our fundraising goal. Nice!
We upped our distance to 55 miles, too. Turns out the start for that distance is about a mile from our house, so we're riding the extra fifteen for pure convenience.
I'm also wondering -- is anyone else around here riding the El Tour this year?
