Gitane 10 Speed
Only listed as Gitane 10 Speed with 27" TriSport tires.
GITANE 20" VINTAGE ROAD BIKE 10 SPEED W/ RACK AND INSTRUCTIONS
Sadly, not much more details available aside from photos.
Perhaps someone can tell from the photos (that are, for whatever reason, not enlargeable...).

Great, thanks for the info wrk.
Same seller had a few others vintage; but most were "fixer uppers"; so likely he is just flipping finds from yard sales.

You're going to have a wretched time searching for road bikes (especially small sized ones) on the Minneapolis CL until it warms up some more.
This Trek is around the price you were looking at, and is a much nicer bike. If they're serious about thinning the herd to placate their spouse, they'll sell for less. It wouldn't be bad for $250.
[h=2]Trek 400T road bike (48cm) - $320 (st louis pk, MN)[/h]Trek 400T road bike (48cm)
9" (48cm) frame with a 30" stand over. Should fit 5'5"-5'7". I'm 5'6". Straight 700cm wheels with great tires. This has been my commuter bike. It is in great tune. All 18 speeds and both brakes are adjusted properly. 23lb REYNOLDS 531 tubing bike. Treks are great quality road bikes which hold their value. Paint and metal are in nice shape. Ready to ride classic. I'm only selling this to placate my wife who feels I have too many bikes. Cash only please.

Not bad bike if you want something pretty basic in a small size. But the price is way too high from CL seller it is worth about half the asking price. Full bike shop retail on this bike would only be $225 or so, based on pricing and add I would avoid this seller. As said your going to have to look a bit and maybe expand your search to find a nice used road bike in your size but there out there. The Trek is a good example of the kinda bike you should be able to find in your price range. If your planning to use the bike for commuting or recreational riding you may want to consider something like this Miyata.

It's definitely an interesting looking bike. Nice & clean. It probably won't sell very quickly at $275. Wait a couple weeks & see if it's still available. The bike isn't worth much to me. I avoid old French bikes because of the weird threads on them. If this Gitane was made in Japan or Taiwan it would be more valuable to me. Maybe pay $135 for it.

Hello jlieu,
In the mid-70's gitane had some of their base model bike frames built in asia.
These were heavy bikes ~40lbs verses the French made bikes at ~28lbs.
The gitane you showed could be one of the heavier models.

$100 for this one ... not bad! Probably wrong size frame? Wonder how it is mechanically. Still would buy it in a second if it were near me.

Wow! That is...quite heavy. Thanks for that info. Too heavy for the price IMO.
