Old Fuji Absolute

Hi-

I always thought about getting an old road bike to keep and maybe fix up. HEre's one that caught my eye on Craigslist:

+++ CROMOLY STEEL FRAME FUJI ROAD BIKE +++

The dude is asking $165. Looks to be in good shape. What do you think?

I would say 100 in current condition, needs wrap, hoods, some decent pedals and tires, not sure what else so would be good at that price to fix as you see fit. You can also find nice fuji clubs and/or team, etc from same era around 200+- in good condition and they will be lighter and are great riders. I like fujis and have two keepers, just sold a 84 club and it was in great shape, totally overhauled and worked pretty hard to get 200 for it. Other japanese steel like univega and shogun are also good buyer values, miyatas and bridgestones tend to be most valued.

Pass on that one. You can do better.

I would probably have to pass on the High Sierra as well...it also seems a bit overpriced...at least it would be in the Atlanta market where I am

I would be making an offer on that High Sierra. Way cool roller cam brakes, sling shot stem, Suntour XC components, thumb shifters, etc. Needs a refresh, cables and tires are old. Its been listed for sale for 17 days, seller may be open to offers.

If you have the time/tools/aptitude/interest, you could make this a nice bike.

Thanks guys for the advice! I think that all the old bikes have been rusted out from all the snow up here

On a side note I just saw an ad for a 60s Schwinn 2-Person bike for $325

Expand your search to include Rochester. A few of the Rochester regulars here are always coming across great deals.
