Help with year and Value please.

    100_5467.jpg

I recently purchased several bikes from a gentleman and this was in the group. He said it might be a Schwinn voyageur. The drive train is completely Sora with Sora flight deck paddle shifters, a Fi'zi:k seat and new Michelin tires. The bike is in beautiful condition and rides great. Its just not my style, I have a Giant hybrid that I currently ride. The badge under the handlebars has the number 0056 stamped to one side. Any help with year and value would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Old frame modernized with new components. Could you post some pictures from the right side of the bike, and some detail views? It looks to be a nice frame especially with the chrome stays. A Schwinn expert may be able to identify it based on that picture but I can't.

1981 Voyageur 11.8 in above photo.

Sold one that was comprehensively reconditioned with fair paint for $275 in October 2014, plus shipping to west coast. Sold a full year 2000 Sora Motobecane in cherry condition for $325 last month.

That adjustable stem is butt ugly on the OP's bike. Other than the frame and maybe the cranks, headset, seat post, and brakes not too much original parts are left on that bike. Probably about $250 +/- 10%. It may be worth much more as a part out.

That silver blue paint would make it an 82. 4130 chomoly frame. Looks like the original Sugino crank.

Double check that 4-digit date code. If you are correct, it would mean a 76 or 86, but neither look like your frame.

apparently, mid sized people like riding tiny bikes with hideous stems.

change the stem, lower the seatpost, put a little toy dog near the bike, take a drive side pic, and sell it to a little college girl for $300.

    Agreed.

Thanks for the help and info.
Now I can list the bike to sell it.
Anyone interested? Its located in North Carolina.
Forgot to say it has a 36 tooth cruising gear on it and also comes with a 52 tooth hill climbing gear.

Uh...I am pretty sure you have the gears backwards...a 52 tooth is DEFINITELY not a hill climbing gear...
