Raleigh Super Course
I just bought an old 80's or 70's Raleigh Super Course for $150.... All the gears work and its a very smooth riding bike...
I would like to know what year it is....
The bike is red and has the name "Super Course 12" on the upper frame tube... Does anyone know what year of bike that is?
Do you think i got a good deal of $150?

There may be date codes on the cranks, derailleurs, or hub locknuts(!).

There will be a serial number - probably on the bottom of the bottom bracket. Should start with W, then another letter, and then numbers. If the first number is an '8', it was made in '78. If '9', 1979. If '0', 1980... etc.
$150 is a pretty good price if everything is in order, and there isn't a stuck stem or seatpost or something.

I believe I saw the one you bought on craigslist, Suntour barcons, originally listed for $175? If so then I think that was a great deal, I would have loved to have it but my new bike budget is about $0.

I am still trying to convince myself that I can overcome this addiction on my own. It has been 5 days since my last red bike purchase. The one I called on today does not count because it already sold.
