Cannondale, Need help identifying this bike.

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone can help identify this nice blue Cannondale. Looking to make an offer on this bike but the seller is not a bike person. According to the stem, type of frame and decal on it I am assuming it is a late 80's or early 90's. But I can not figure which model it is. Is it a r300, 400, 500 or is it an RS? Can anyone help? I just wanted to narrow down the model and age to see if it worth my traveling to go see it. Any help would be appreciated and price range would be great too.

Thank you

The vintage cannondale site will help you determine what year via ser# and the model will be a guess by looking a the component package. Nice bike.

Looks like a late 80's SR-something converted to flat bars. As OldsCool said, go to vintagecannondale.com, check the serial# and head badge to find the year them consult the catalogs and compare components to determine the model.

Definately pre-89 if it's an "R". When viewing the distance between wheel and seat tube it appears to be that.

Quite likely. Under the paint, all the "SR" frames were the same. Looks like a replacement fork.

More photos would be necessary for a good appraisal. Off hand, I'd say from the one photo that it's in fairly good condition, BUT non-original parts (seatpost, handlebar stem, brake levers, and missing front derailleur lower the any resale value.

Without photos of the driveside, and close-ups to show the condition of the components, I'd say maybe $150-$200 (seatpost, brake levers, bar tape, cables, handlebar stem, and a front derailleur are going to cost you at least $115-$130), plus the labor to install and adjust. And if necessary another $75-$100 to have a shop do an extensive tune-up.

Thanks again everyone.

I paid $150 CND. I was after the frame mainly. The crank, brake calipers and derailleurs and possibly the chain looks original or from that era according to the vintage site. The bike overall is in "good" condition. The paint has a few bubbling spots? Anyone have any ideas why? I am thinking of repainting most likely.

That's an 83-84-85 ST model touring bike, rack mounts on the seat stays give the model away, metal top tube cable guides mean it's one of those years. Serial on bottom of BB will be either AA, BB or CC. Great bikes, very versatile, can be upgraded to the very latest components if you desire, or anything in between.

You're looking at another poster's ST bike, not OP's SR. (Not sure why the touring bike was posted)

Cannondale used bad primer or such for a bit. Good thing is, it's not steel, so no rust underneath.
There were a lot of returns for paint problems early on.
