Need help with vintage Basso
Hi, I'm new to this forum and would really appreciate some help identifying and possibly appraising the value of my Basso road bike. I originally got the bike from a guy over 15 years ago and have ridden it ever since. I might be finally ready to part ways with it so I'd like to know a bit more about what I have and a fair price to ask. It is in good shape and has Sante components. If you need more detailed pics or have any other questions I'd be happy to oblige. Thanks in advance for your help!

A Sante group in that condition might be worth a pretty penny to the right buyer. You'd probably get more parting it out if you're so inclined.

Correct, the Sante parts are the crankset, RD, FD and shift levers. The hubs appear to be Shimano 600 and the brake levers and calipers are Shimano Super SLR. The brake levers also say "Exage" on them. The rims say Racing de Rigida on them.
I am open to selling locally or via Ebay. I haven't sold much but I have 100% positive for what it's worth. My LBS can pack and ship but I'm not sure about an exact number. Would it be worth listing on CL first? I'm in St. Augustine, FL.
Thanks again, guys!

The problem around here at least with the LBS pack and ship is cost. My LBS charges $60 to pack a bike. Then you have the postage of course. Buyers on eBay tend to have idea the hassle/effort it takes to pack a bike. They expect to get the packing portion for free.

I understand. My LBS has lots of bike boxes and will pack it for free. I would just have to pay shipping costs which I understand are easily $100. That being said, if the bike is worth a decent amount, it might be worth it. There is one similar to mine with Campy components going for $1200 right now but I know that's not realistic for mine. How much is a fair price to ask? Also, any idea of the model or year? Thanks.

I do not recommend USPS or UPS on complete bikes.

Is that a repaint? Don't see a tubing sticker. The group really is of not much value..maybe 200. The frame...not much more than that I think. So, your looking at maybe a 400.00 bike at the best if that. I see Basso's on ebay all the time not selling and just sitting there for months. In fact, I can't remember seeing one on Ebay that had many, if any bids going. They are great bikes...I have two, they just don't get the bucks even with pretty good group sets on them, which yours is lacking. Go with craigslist at 400.00 and see what happens. Just my opinion. Good luck with it.

Seat tube sticker is wrong by the way. That's a slightly modified down tube sticker. ST decal lettering should be horizontal, rather than vertical, with proceeding letters directly under each other.

Thanks for the figures, everyone! I've owned the bike for the better part of two decades and haven't repainted it myself. It's definitely possible that the previous owner did, however. Whoever did it had some attention to detail, though. The embossed parts are painted blue and the look and feel of the paint is like a factory finish. I definitely see what you guys are talking about with the decals, though. You're probably right. I'll post it on CL for $500 and see what comes back. I'm also in talks with two different local stores that said that they'd give me $300 and $400, respectively on a trade. From what you all have said that seems pretty fair.
