Value of 1978 Trek tx770

I have a 1978 Trek TX770 with Columbus tubing. It's equipped with Suntour parts. Thinking about selling it, but have no idea what these bikes are going for at this time. I can't find this bike listed anywhere. Any ideas?

Big bike in poor shape, probably bent fork. Less than 100 as she sits.

Worth quite a bit more than $100 if the bike were in decent shape. The fork does look bent which basically destroys the value of the frame. Plus the parts are decent but not great. And the bike is in overall kind of crummy shape. $100 might be about right though I certainly wouldn't pay that much for this bike.

I think the photo makes the fork look funny, but upon further inspection, I think the fork is straight.

The frame alone (assuming it's sound) is worth more than $100, guys. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get $200 for the frame. The rest of the bike is kind of a mess, I agree, but if you couldn't sell it for over $200 I'd be pretty shocked.

The bike would be on my stand already if it were near me. Clean it up a bit. I would ask $200 to 250. Trek has a great resale value.

The fork end and rear dropout should say Campagnolo. Something worth mentioning in your ad when you sell the bike. It is a sign of quality.

Sometimes I think people are quick to jump on a bike that looks like it has a bent fork. If you can post another picture of the bike straight-on with the handlebars straight I think that should tell the story. Right now your picture is from too high up. You need to get the camera lower, so you might be on your knees when you take it.

But the bike has other issues that make it look bad. The rear brake housing is awful, the brake levers are missing the hoods, the pedals look cheesy with clips and no straps, and the crankset looks like it might be a cheap replacement but I can't tell for sure. These are minor things but they really detract from the look of the bike.

I am not sure from the one photo but it looks to me like the fork tube decal is not a Columbus, looks more like a Reynolds. Here's the example from Vintage Trek Gallery - Rob Hardin's 1977 TX770 Steel Road Bike

Anyway, the TX 770 was kind of a controversial model but it was Columbus. See the referenced page from Vintage-Trek. The OP's looks like half-and-half.

Yes, I think the 700's would have been Reynolds and the 900's Columbus.
