Bianchi Daytona SL Aluminum
I'm on the fence about buying this bike because I'm not sure the price is fair. I wanted a second opinion. I don't have a picture so my description will have to suffice. I'm also very much a beginner when it comes to buying bikes.
Here it is on Bikepedia:
2001 Bianchi Daytona SL Aluminum - BikePedia
He is asking $600.
Most of the components are in okay shape, but they're all stock, which means they're 15 years old.
The chainstays have been pretty beat up by the chain, and there some scratches and marks on the rest of the frame, but no obvious dents. The gear looks to be intact and I can't see any obvious problems with it, except that it's scratched up. The chainring seems to be scalloped.
Assuming it rides well, what do you guys think? Is it a fair deal?

Nope. Figure normal price would be in the 500 range (25% of 2,000) and less 100 for abnormal wear and tear.

A dealer will nearly aways be higher prices than a private party sale. They have more liability risk and location fees. The 25% is a number that
comes up often here, but that would seem to be a reasonable depreciation for a 15 year old bike. In reality, there is no magic depreciation number, its just an opinion at best.
You need to base an offering price on whats available at what price in your community, and how badly you want that particular bike - are you willing to pay a premium over similar bikes or not?

Ah I should have used the word "seller." There's no business.
Am I willing to pay a premium for that exact bike? No, probably not.

Are you in the Minneapolis, MN area by chance? If not, please ignore this. I tried to direct message you but this site won't let me.
Someone stole my Bianchi Daytona SL Aluminum from my garage last week and I am desperate to get it back since it was a gift and has a lot of sentimental value for me. I'm fully willing to pay whatever price the seller was asking for and I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble. I just want it back.
Please e-mail me to let me know if you've seen this! m.squared184@gmail.com
I swear, this isn't a scam... I just really want to get connected with whoever might have my bike so I can buy it back.
