Identifying and valuing older Bianchi road bike

Hi all, I have been searching for a nice used bike in my area but have not had much luck. For my price range, I figure I can get a nicer older bike, then a brand new bike from Target. There is this listing on my local craigslist of an older Bianchi road bike (Vintage Bianchi). I know there is only one picture and its not very clear but does anyone have any thoughts? Or possibly suggestions for finding a bike with my criteria? I have to say though, so many people are completely overcharging for some of these older bikes and will not budge on the price one bit. Anyways, thanks so much everybody

Not a Bianchi. Looks like a first-generation Nishiki Olympic: early 70's, straight-gauge cr-mo frame. I'd pass.

Yes not Bianchi hard to tell exactly what it is with the repaint and mostly random none original components. Definetley lower end 70's frame with the style of lugs and wrap around seat stays mostly likely a Nishiki Olympic or maybe a Raliegh Grand Prix. As presented with the bad ID I would say pass beat up boom era low end bike with messy repaint and parts bin build worth only $75-100 if it works good.

If you're only 5'4" tall, that frame is too big. Probably a 54-56cm frame. You need a 50-52cm frame. I agree that the above bike is well overpriced.

If you want a commuter, look for a rigid MTB, about 15" frame. A lot more bike for the money, add $40 worth of road tires and tubes, and a great hard pavement bike.

$85 Specialized Hardrock
Vintage specialized mtb

+1 These are a nice selection of alternatives in the $200 or under price range. As said considering a nice hard frame MTB or cross bike is a good option for a commuter in the lower price range. You just won't find much for under $200 that is ready to ride in a road bike in your market and smaller size.
