If he's willing to accept an offer on eBay, surely he would accept an in-person offer with cash-in-hand...

Hey All,
The seller has a greed to come down to $275 (not a big drop in price but ehh oh well), so I'm trying to go check it out in about an hour or so, give it a quick test ride, and look everything over again.
It is slightly too big, but not unbearable. Especially with everyone saying the bike is well worth it. Hopefully I can update everyone later today on how the purchase went.
Thanks again to all of you who had some input!

So, I bought it. It rides very well and doesn't look to have any damage whatsoever. Like I said it is a bit tall for me, but adjusting the seat height will help my overall ride. Very glad I was able to get some fine input from everyone and now here's to hoping for many miles out of my Torelli.

$300? Absolutely. Mine's a late '90s Corsa Strada (Aelle/ ducted brake cable) and I paid $300 for the complete frameset, which included a Campy Veloce HS & BB, all in very nice shape (the former owner was a mech at an LBS).
Fwiw, it's a lovely ride; climbs & corners beautifully. The Corsa Strada is the entry-level model, but it's so well made that I'm extremely keen to find a Countach from the same period.
Edit: replacing that shifter will be a pretty cheap & easy fix.

Very nice!
I'm keeping my eye out for one of the older lugged frames. On the one hand, I prefer the aesthetics; and on the other, the newer TIG-welded Countachs are waaay too similar to my Buenos Aires. In terms of weight & performance, it'd be like having the same bike- twice (and variety is the spice of life-- maybe Columbus Life, in this case).
When the time comes, I have a minty Daytona 10sp gruppo set aside for it.
