Fuji S10-S help

Hello,
I found a good deal on a really nice Fuji s-10s. It is my size and I love vintage bikes. This will be my first road bike but I have been riding on hybrid bikes for about 5 years now. I want to now if this is a good deal.
Vintage Fuji S-10-S Road Bike
I said I could do $275 if he drove half way this weekend. He agreed. I just want to know if I should do this and follow through if it's a good deal. The seller is very nice and responds fast, he doesn't sound suspicious at all, and If there was anyone I would want to buy a bike from on Craigslist it would be him. It's a beautiful bike and it would probably ride like a dream. And since I love vintage road bikes this is amazing. Also, this would be great since I am going to a different high school next year that is in biking range and this is what I would use, since it is kind of a sleeper since bike thieves don't really want to steal an old bike.
Thanks for the help.
Mitch

The administrators may move this to the "What's It Worth?" section, but around here in the Twin Cities that price is about twice the going rate. The S10-S and S12-S are decent bikes, but they don't seem to command alot of cash.

If it's in really tip top shape, I wouldn't call you crazy for paying that price. There are small clues that show it may not be in tip top shape. The cable clips on the top tube are not neat, and the front wheel is in backwards. These are not functional problems, but it means the owner has not paid maximum attention to detail. But I don't really know what condition it's in.

Also, that's a very small size. If you are 5'2" tall or so, it will probably fit.

In my market, I could get $125 to $150 for it in tip top shape. As noglider said, the bike will probably need a complete maintenance (bearings and maybe cables).

Solid bikes, but that is pretty high ask. Sold overhauled 1980 s12s last month for 140, but it did have a stuck stem.

to me, that's a contract.

but it's a lower-mid level bike. and a tiny one at that.

i sold mine for $300, but it had several upgrades, a leather saddle, and it was fully overhauled.

We never discussed a time, I know it's crappy but I could just never get back to him, but it isn't like I am making him drive out there and then I don't show up.

if it were me and i didn't want to buy it after his acceptance of my written offer, i would quickly and politely ask him if i could back out. and then go from there. i would not object to giving him some consideration for my breach.

but if you're not 18, no worries.

If fully tuned, cleaned, overhauled, and new consumables, maybe $225 +/-10%.

As shown, maybe half that amount. The seller bought tires too expensive for that particular bike.

In the Atlanta area bikes like that have gone up about 1.5X - 2X in price over the last few years. I used to be able to buy those for $100 - $125. Now, I see them for over $225 all the time. They're good bikes. It was Fuji's entry level offering. No problems getting new replacement parts. Just be sure that it fits. It's definitely a small one.

Hey guys. He offered me to do $210. Do you think I should accept? And to everyone asking if it fits, it does, it is actually exactly my size.
Thanks,
Mitch

It's a good bike, I've had one. The price is a little high for my area. There's one that's been listed here for months in near-perfect condition, asking $225, which hasn't sold. But, if you're looking for a good rider, not an investment, go get it, you'll like it.

The fact that it's exactly your size is a huge bonus. Now it's up to you to decide if the bonus is enough. It's your money, after all. Putting a value to vintage bicycles is more of an art than a science. In the end, everything is worth the agreeable confluence between a buyer and seller.

Yea, I did it. I bought it, and I'm going to make it very nice with a leather saddle and more stuff like that. We are going to meet in steel creek this Sunday.

Having worked in a Fuji dealership back when this was a new bike, I think you'll be very pleased.

I'm sure I will. It's a beautiful bike in my opinion and I love vintage bikes too. It is going to ride great too, I bet
That is really cool. I think working in a bike shop would be pretty fun, but I am also into aquariums and keeping marine and tropical fish and invertebrates, so I think working in a fish or coral shop would be more fun, but I'll cross that road when I get a job lol.
Thanks for the nice statement!
