Cannondale Black Lightning (unknown year)

Been searching locally for my first road bike with hopes to participate in the Hotter N' Hell 100 here in Wichita Falls. Found a few but stumbled across this. Its a 62cm Cannondale Black Lightning of unknown year (head tube mark puts it 1983-1989 from what I can find online). Bike looks to be in great shape, but he's asking $450 for it. Is that steep for a bike this old and would this even be good for my first bike to try and knock down a 100 mile ride?

Did you look through old catalogs ?? Cannondale Catalogs | VintageCannondale.com

Looks in great shape. probably will sell quickly, but $450 seems high to me.

I would guess 1986-87-ish

Bike looks bad-ass, but I'm not sure I'd pay $450 for it. It's in very good shape and may be worth close to that, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to say. I think the buyer is looking for more of a "cannondale fanboy" to buy this bike than just a normal person looking for a first road bike.

Oh nice I didn't see that section. I found this Vintage Cannondale ? Serial Numbers & Information | VintageCannondale.com but he didn't have the serial number. Just based it on the headtube alone. Thanks!

Eyeballing, my guess is 60 cm, not 62

If it fits, that bike will be fine for the HTH100 ride. Not as much for the HTH race. You'd want lighter weight and brifters if you intend to race in a group.

$325 +/- 10% as shown, if recently serviced, including hubs.

I saw a BL recently listed in the C & V forum here for $400 with shipping, sell three days ago on ebay for a BIN of $99.99 plus shipping, but that is an outlier IMHO for a ready to ride.
