Rsx groupset value
Let me preface this by saying I am unsure if this is the correct section.
I have a buddy who wants to sell me rsx Sri shifters fd rd 3 speed 7 speed with wheelset. Oh yeah, and rx100 calipers. They look to be in good nick sans some cosmetic scratches and the like. The 3 speed crankset looks almost new.
How much would you pay for this? Can I use any 7 speed freewheel for future gearing options? I believe it's a touring setup, but options are always good. No pics at the moment, but I will try to get him to send me some and post them up.
Thanks in advance.

Pictures can help so we can determine the condition. Yes this will work with with other 7 speed cassettes.
You're talking about derailleurs, brifters, wheels, and cranks; for a local sale like this, something in the neighborhood of $125 +/- $25 sounds about right. I'd be willing to pay at the high end of the valuation range if the wheels are in excellent condition.
One thing to keep in mind is that you can "buy" this group on a used bike for not a lot more. I picked up a 1996 bianchi volpe with a full rsx 7 speed group in excellent shape for $250.

RSX was the equivalent of Sora in it's day. Thirty years old, but does it have 30 yrs worth of wear? Could be worth anywhere from $100 to $10. Those indexers still look gone long after the plastic bits inside are worn out.

Wheels are in excellent condition. The group set looks like it has maybe a few hundred on it.
I want to use it on my old Panasonic built voyageur 11.8 or tempo frame for an upgrade. He wants $160 or trade value. I have a Brooks and cash for him so I think I'll pull the trigger.
Thanks guys!

Also I have seen some bikes locally with similar groupsets but they are more, and 2 speed cranksets. To me this is a better deal. If the frame sizes on the donor bikes were NY size, then I'd go that way, but they're small and I'm not lol.

You would remove the components and either sell the frameset or donate it to a local nonprofit bike collective. This would offset the higher initial cost.

Did you mean to write STI Shifters? RSX brifters are not the equivalent of Sora brifters in the Modern Shimano Product Lineup. Maybe by position in the Lineup, but not in quality. RSX Shifters are metal, and basically the same as RX100 STI shifters. They are repairable and parts are available, unlike Sora STI brifters (which are plastic, are not repairable, and no parts are available.
Wheels with RSX hubs, RSX brifters (that work), RSX derailleurs, with RX-100 brake calipers (IMHO RX-100 brake calipers are indefinitely better than RSX brake calipers) are worth more than $125 if they are in good working condition. If you need the Group, all the parts are in good working and cosmetic condition, and you have something you can trade (instead of using money) that you don't need, I'd do the deal in an instant.
Just make sure that the brifters are working. If they aren't it's going to cost you about $60 (with shipping to get the pair fixed/rebuilt).
Bartering $160 value in trade beats giving up $250 in cash (CraigsList Deal) any day of the week.
