Mistral 70's frame

Hi All - I'm new here, so please forgive any un-known etiquette problems I may have. I've got a Mistral frame (#F429729) from the 70's. Reynolds 531 Aluminum. Came to me already beat up in 1980. Came w/ Campi parts (no longer on bike). Now has all bad parts, bad paint, and rust. 531 label no longer exits. Is there any value here?

Hi Christi, we will need to see photos to tell you anything much.

But yes, nesteel is correct, Reynolds 531 is a cro-moly steel. Quality stuff, many nicer vintage bikes are made with it.

The name, serial number and Reynolds 531 decal make me suspect that what you have may be a rebuilt 1974 CCM Mistral, though pictures will be needed for corroboration. Well, not actually, as all Mistral were white, had chromed fork and stay ends, and had the serial number stamped on the non-drive side of the seat tube, in the vicinity of the front derailleur clamp. If all that matches, the probability of it being something else is very remote. However, we will need the pictures to assess the condition and value.

BTW, Reynolds 531 is not chrominium-molybdenum as previously stated, but a manganese-molybdenum steel alloy. If it is a CCM Mistral, only the three main tubes are Reynolds 531 and they are only plain gauge. The forks and stays are hi-tensile steel.

Shoot, you're right, I always forget about that.

Hi All,

Thanks for reply information. I knew this bike when it was still in it's original form, and am confident that is was the CCM Mistral that you identify here. Though, no one would know that from it's current condition. I'm almost embarrassed to post a photo due to condition, but, when I have time to, I will photo and post. Thanks angain!
