this bike is for sale locally. unadvertized. I know its a lower end peugot, but I rode it around and its a fairly comfortable bike. I have no idea of the year or anything of it. any guesses as to whats a fair price to pay for it?

Im no expert in pricing, but from what i have been seeing on craigslist locally for montreal, a bike like this one always goes for 80-100bucks CDN. it seems to me that for most ppl 100 sounds like a fair round number for an old "vintage" a road bike. I own a similar bike, its UO-8 dates probably between '75-'77 according to the decals etc. If i were to sell it, id probably ask for something like 80bucks but wait for spring for perhaps a bit more (i noticed that as soon as winter comes, ppl dont tend to want to buy a bike and as soon as school starts... you can find a student that needs one). So in your case... if the current owner doesnt want to hold on to it (storage?) you may get it for cheaper.

Also, that bike is well equipped with the nice fenders and lights...

I would say somewhere around $100 is right for a running uo-8.

The bar end shifters and that saddle might push that up a bit if they're what you're looking for.

Heck yeah, with the nice saddle, the fenders & the lights -- Ready to commute! As long as the chainrings are in good shape. Also, check the grease -- don't ruin it by riding on dry bearings -- consider doing it yourslefs if it needs work --

If it's what you want & it fits you, and if it's ready to ride and needs nothing, I'd say $200 is not too much. On the other hand, if you really want something else, then it is not worth $200.

I concur - the machine in the OP's photos looks like a $100-150 machine. Nice condition, intact, etc.

As for the one LgReno shows, I'd put it at about $50 in the Miami market. Too many scratches on the stays to warrant the extra price, and it needs some TLC.

thanks guys.........thats what i needed to hear

LgReno 11-27-08 08:02 PM

Heyy... that not nice...

Actually.... my posted pic is the before picture... how it looked like when i got it for nothing. Since then... ive given it a hell of a lot of TLC....
just ran into problems... when i got a flat... needed to true the wheel and broke a spoke while doing so... -on the freewheel side... (and i dont have the necessary tool :( ) so now... it just looks worse...but clean!

cudak888 11-27-08 10:09 PM

Well, those are just the facts, LgReno. I'm sure it looks far better after you cleaned it up (I bet the grime responded well to Meguiars Scratch X), but that photo of it in as-found condition isn't very flattering, you must admit ;)

That is a UE-8, not a UO-8.

Other than that, I concur with the rest of what has been said in this thread. $100-150.
